January Exhibitions at The Studios

Opening Thursday, January 5, 6-8pm

On view January 5-26, 2023

Friends new and old are invited to join us for this month’s First Thursday Open House event, when we keep our lights on late and throw our doors open to celebrate the newest work in our galleries. In January, Cheryl Wilson Smith turns the Sanger Gallery into an interactive and immersive environment, with atmospheric nature sounds and islands of pillows and sculptures covering the floor. Rebecca Bennett presents a series of intimate paintings illuminating the slower side of Key West. Alongside their documentary short, sixth-generation Key West residents, the Shavers family, depict the Black experience of the island from their perspective. Theresa Chiechi has produced a 200-page graphic novel exploring the magic behind Mallory Square, and will show large-scale images of each step of the comic-making process.
