If you’re like me, sometimes a morning just can’t get started without a strong cup of coffee. If you’re looking for a little pick me up that exudes Key West character, I’ve got three spots not to be missed. Forget Starbucks and head to one of these unique island cafes for your brew.

Coffee Plantation

Just a few blocks off Duval on Caroline Street, you’ll find this adorable conch cottage filled with colorful paintings by local artists and welcoming bric-a-brac decor. Here, the iced latte cannot be beat. If it’s a particularly hot and steamy day, then this cool concoction will certainly satisfy. I like to add a Sugar in the Raw packet to mine to sweeten the deal. Here, you’ll also find an assortment of fresh-baked pastries, bagels, and light lunch selections. This is also the spot to check your email at their internet café or on your laptop using their wifi connection.

Help Yourself

Everything at this brand new organic health foods restaurant is homemade and natural. You’ve got to try their cappuccino made with coconut milk and fair trade coffee beans. The coconut milk adds a subtle tropical sweetness to the brew that is absolutely delicious. While there, try their fruit and yogurt parfait made with coconut yogurt and homemade granola. Delicious!

Bad Ass Coffee

If you happen to be heading out on Fury Water Adventure’s Ultimate Adventure trip departing from 0 Duval Street, you might be disappointed to learn that coffee is not included on the breakfast buffet. Never fear. Just across the street from your check-in location, you’ll find a funky coffee house roasting beans from the mountains of Hawaii. Grab a cup of Joe and head on down the dock to fill out your paperwork while you wait to board the boat. You’ll be happy you did!
