Hemingway Days to Honor Ernest
Join the celebration of Ernest Hemingway’s life and legacy at the annual Hemingway Days in Key West, happening from Tuesday to Sunday, July 16-21, 2024. This vibrant festival honors the iconic author who called the island home during the 1930s. Highlights include the famous Hemingway Look-Alike Contest at Sloppy Joe’s Bar, the whimsical “Running of the Bulls,” and a variety of events celebrating Hemingway’s passions—from deep-sea fishing to literature. Visitors can explore a museum exhibit of rare Hemingway memorabilia, attend literary readings, and participate in a 5k run and paddleboard race. The festival also marks the 125th anniversary of Hemingway’s birth and features the Lorian Hemingway Short Story Competition, coordinated by his granddaughter. 27th Annual Key West Lobsterfest
The Key West Lobsterfest is an annual summer celebration marking the start of Lobster Season with a blend of fresh seafood, vibrant music, and lively events. From August 8-11, 2024, attendees can indulge in fresh Florida lobster at various culinary events, including a traditional Lobster Boil, a Lobster Brunch, and a bustling Street Fair on Duval Street. The festival also features live music, a pool party, and the popular Lobsterfest Duval Pub Crawl. With a mix of delicious lobster dishes, refreshing drinks, and entertainment, Lobsterfest is a must-attend event for both locals and visitors looking to experience the best of Key West’s summer scene. The 2024 Bubba Awards
The 2024 Bubba Awards will be announced and handed out to the winners during a sold-out show at the Key West Theater on Saturday, July 20, hosted by Keys Weekly publishers Jason Koler and Britt Myers, after a preshow hosted by Kirby Myers, who greeted nominees and guests as they arrived.
Nearly 100 Key West businesses, community notables and creatives were honored, after online voters determined who earned the title of “Best.”
This year’s Bubbas benefited Wesley House Family Services, a nationally accredited not-for-profit organization dedicated to protecting and nurturing children and strengthening families.
