The Trip to Bountiful is an American masterpiece about the universal pull that we all feel for “home.” Carrie Watts is an elderly widow, trapped in the tiny Houston apartment of her overprotective son and domineering daughter-in-law, who wants to return to her hometown of Bountiful – one last time before she dies. With pension check in hand, she breaks free. Her journey is filled with humor and tenderness that’s both touching and life-affirming.
Carrie Watts has been played by some of the greatest actresses of the American stage and screen, including Lillian Gish, Geraldine Page and Cicely Tyson. The Waterfront production will star the incredible Joy Hawkins.
