Lighting the 2018 HarborWalk of Lights
The Key West Historic Seaport HarborWalk will be transformed into a spectacle of light and design this Holiday Season. The Key West HarborWalk of Lights is a “Must See” presentation of Holiday lighting and Decor, designed with Nautical themes reflective of Key West’s Maritime History at the old Historic Seaport. The lighting of the HarborWalk also marks the beginning of the Key West “Bight” before Christmas Celebration every year, and the island wide Key West Holiday Fest.
This year, the HarborWalk of Lights will include 50% more lights and creativity than last year, a big leap since it all started back in 2006.
Decor will include a combination of Extensive Tree lighting, lighted Garlands, Pole trim, Architectural outlines, Animated features and Nautical themed Sculptures.
Feature areas will include Elizabeth Street Plaza, Lazy Way Lane, the entire Harbor Walk, Margaret St Parking lot, the “D” Dock Turtle Cannery, the Recording Studio, Dock Master Building, the Ferry Terminal as well as the Water Front Brewery building.
In addition to the now iconic Nautical Themed Trees of fishing buoys and lobster traps, the new features will include the animated Gumbo Limbo Tree on Lazy Way, as well as Lighted Sculpture presentations along the Harbor Walk from Conch Republic Seafood Company building all the way around to the Ferry Terminal. These will include animated Sea Turtles, a Manatee, a Swordfish with Colorful Coral, Tropical Fish, Pelicans, Egrets, Flamingos as well as Island Singers atop the Recording Studio and a number of Holiday Ship Anchors.
