Studios of Key West: Will Kimbrough in Concert

February 4 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
$40 – $75

William Adams Kimbrough is a Nashville-based American singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. Originally from Mobile, Alabama, Kimbrough launched his music career in the 1980s with the college band Will & the Bushmen before going on to form the Bis-Quits, releasing an album under John Prine’s Oh Boy Records. As a producer, he has collaborated with a range of artists, including Adrienne Young, Rodney Crowell, and Todd Snider.

Kimbrough’s songwriting has earned recognition from artists like Jimmy Buffett, Little Feat, and Jack Ingram, with his co-written song “Bubbles Up” recently becoming Buffett’s first posthumous single and a viral hit. Over the years, Kimbrough and Buffett have written more than twenty songs together, sometimes working remotely and other times collaborating in person. Kimbrough’s songwriting collaborations also include work with Rosanne Cash, Emmylou Harris, and Mark Knopfler. In 2004, he was honored as Instrumentalist of the Year by the Americana Music Association.

Kimbrough co-founded the band Daddy, joined Trigger Hippy in 2012, and formed Willie Sugarcapps with fellow Southern Alabama singer-songwriters. His solo albums reflect a diverse mix of influences, from folk and blues to punk rock and jazz. His album Wings explores themes of family and career, while Americanitis presents songs with anti-war and anti-greed messages. His latest work includes the 2023 Blues Music Award-nominated song “Too Far to Be Gone.”
