Key West is known for our festivals, history and water sports, but there is still more to Key West, FL. Our tropical island climate, similar to that of the Caribbean Islands, is year-round. This means nature-lovers from all over the world can enjoy our Key West nature attractions at anytime of the year!

Key West Nature Attractions

Nature and wildlife are abundant in Key West. From our big game fish to creatures that fly across our sky, there is no end to what you can see here.

Exotic Butterfly and Bird Species

Key West Nature Attractions If you are looking for a combination of water, plants and wildlife, visit our Key West Butterfly & Nature Conservatory. 50 to 60 butterfly species from around the world, over 20 exotic bird species and caterpillars! You and your children can even watch these caterpillars turn into butterflies right before your eyes!

This kid-friendly attraction includes a Learning Center, where guests can catch a glimpse of the live of caterpillars and explore the anatomy, physiology, lifecycle, feeding and migratory habits of the Monarch. Here, Key West’s love of nature and art is combined. During your visit, check out the Butterfly Gallery for original artwork and see the cascading waterfalls, flowering plants, trees and, of course, the impressive array of butterflies.

Marine and Tropical Life

Key West Nature Attractions Our crystal blue waters have always been a top attraction for visitors, but the Key West Aquarium specifically is one of our most popular and historic attractions. Visitors can get up close and personal with Key West wildlife at the aquarium’s touch tank and shark feedings! The Key West Aquarium is one of the most unique aquariums in the world, and they have been inviting guests to meet our indigenous sea-creatures since 1934.

The Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden

Key West Nature Attractions An arboretum, botanical garden, wildlife refuge and education center all in one! For beautiful South Florida, Cuba, and the Caribbean flora and endangered species of the Florida Keys, make sure to stop by the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden during your stay in Key West!

Check out the rest of our site for tips, best places to see and stay and general Key West information. We’re certain our nature attractions will make your vacation one you won’t soon forget!
