Memorial Day Marks Official Start Of Summer
by Shayne Benowitz
Summertime is officially here. The kids are out of school, the days are getting longer, and those dog days are only going to get hotter. At Fury, we were as busy as ever over the long Memorial Day weekend.
On Saturday, I worked on the parasail boat with Captain Marius and we flew over 100 passengers. Many of them were families or groups of friends who were celebrating graduations ranging from high school to nursing school. It’s always nice to be apart of these momentous occasions in people’s lives.
Sunday we were even busier. The Ultimate Adventure, the Commotion on the Ocean, and all of our snorkel trips were nearly full to capacity with customers ready to relax and party with the ushering in of summer.
On Memorial Day, Captain Charlie and I worked a quick morning parasailing guests off of the Ultimate Adventure. Afterwards, we decided it was time for us to enjoy the weekend’s festivities. Along with Captian Scotty and a few others, we loaded into Charlie’s boat and headed to Snipes, a large sandy key a few miles east in the Gulf of Mexico. There, we were greeted by dozens of other boaters enjoying the sun and the water. We had a great afternoon and rounded it out with a little wakeboarding and wakeskating near the Northwest Channel right before sunset.
Summer has always been my favorite time of year, and it’s especially great in Key West when you work on the water. At Fury, we work hard and play hard. There’s nothing better than feeling the warm sun on your shoulders, the wind in your hair, and the cool relief of diving into the sea. We hope you’ll come play with us on your summer vacation!
